Some of you guessed right....

Yes, I am pregnant. God is good.

In the midst of being so sick and having mercury fillings removed, chelation IV's to knock down my high metal levels, having allergy testing (found out I am severely allergic to grasses and moderately allergic to egg whites, carrots and a bunch of other foods, but egg whites effect my life the most as I eat 2-3 eggs every day. Now I just eat the yolks and it isn't quite the same) and trying to figure out if I have this rare mast cell disease (or a mast cell activation disorder, sorry, it's complicated) I found out I was pregnant. And, I started feeling better. Oh yes!

For several weeks I felt better than I had since I got really sick back in October 2007. Then, of course, the early pregnancy tiredness and all day morning sickness set it. Still all good because it helped me know the pregnancy was still going, which was a major concern to me because I have been spotting for most of the pregnancy so far. Several hcg quantitative blood levels and three ultrasounds later and we now know baby is snug as a bug, but the placenta is over my cervix. So, I'm supposed to be taking it easy, which is about all I have able to do being so nauseous and tired already. lol. Doctor said yesterday that I basically can have no fun till the placenta moves (praying it will, too early to know yet what will happen though). \

I also was told at my appt. yesterday that I HAVE to have a c-section. I was really hoping to be allowed a VBAC, but apparently the current standard is if you have had ONE section you can have a VBAC, but once you have had two sections you are now "always-a-section". Disappointing, but I still get to have a baby, so that is good.

You know, being at the OB yesterday and in a waiting room of 20 year old ish mom's to be, I started feeling pretty old. Not just old, down right elderly, in the childbearing arena that is. It seems strange enough to be pregnant and having a married son. I'm sure it would be stranger yet if I already had a grandchild. Oh well. I'm sure I'll get over it. I'd rather be having another baby than care what other people think about my advanced maternal age. The nurse at my OB's was great. She told us how they had two 47 year olds and one 50 year old patient have babies last year. Hey, I'm younger than that!
(43 in May if you must know)

So, here we are, embarking on another grand adventure in pregnancy and parenthood. Thanks for being along for the ride.

Many, many congratulations! I know that 'elderly' feeling too as I am also 43 and expecting (baby due in November). I never cease to be amazed at the goodness of the Lord. May God bless you richly with health and strength!

Congratulations!! What a wonderful blessing! I've been praying you feel better soon especially as you are nearing your 2nd trimester! As Mom probably already told you, We're about 6 weeks behind you and just pregnancy #4 has been tiring so I have thought of you and feel for you having much more on your plate than I! :) God is good, I'm so happy for you and your family.

Wait until you are 46, carrying your 5 month old, with massive gray roots showing, and some creep, uhh, well meaning gentleman asks whose baby am I holding?

So far the only roots I have to deal with are the ones from my highlights growing out.... lol. The women in our family don't seem to go gray till older, so I have that in my favor I guess. lol.

Dave on the other hand, has a bit more silver coming in lately..... I think he has earned it. Why is it "earned" for men, and we must be grandmothers or older if we women have any gray?

=)

Congratulations Jerri,
I have been reading your blog (as well as Chris and Jen's) for a couple of years now and I am thrilled whenever I read that you or Jen are expecting. I am in my late 30's and unfortunately my husband and I haven't been blessed with the sound of little feet in our home but I haven't lost hope. I believe that if it's God's will I'll be a mother.

We started late (partly due to getting married late) so it is very encouraging to see folks in their early 40s being pregnant and such.

YAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

Oh, Jerri, I'm so happy for you! I was hoping that's what your news was, but I was prepared to rejoice if it was of a grandbaby nature.

Bless, bless, bless you!!!

Love,
Karen

Hi! Congratulations! Just wanted to share that if you do want to VBAC, there are OBs who do attend VBACs after 2 cesareans. If you want to find a new OB, this is a great place to start: http://vbacfacts.com/2008/03/08/finding-a-vbac-supportive-ob-or-midwife/ Big hugs, Jen

Hey Jeri-
Congratulations! I will pray for you. The above commenter is right. I was offered a vbac after my second section but turned it down( stupid mistake). We tried to find a doctor who would help us do a vbac with the fourth but they all looked at us like we were crazy.

Of course with the placenta previa you probably don't have a choice. So it doesn't really matter that I just told you all of that.

Anyways I am happy for your baby #13.

Take care,

Kimm
