Sock Funnies

It is time to have some fun with this all so serious topic of laundry! Just this morning I found a sock in a snow boot that had been hiding out in our snow boot box in the garage since Jan. 2nd! (note the duct tape around the boot - this was DH solution to worn out velcro closures! Mighty effective, till you want to take them off! LOL!)

Socks are such sneaky creatures, I thought it would be fun to hear your stories of the
funniest/most unusual place you ever found a sock. Post them in the comment box below. Get them posted soon and on March 17th I will pick my favorite one and post it on the blog.

Well, as many claim, it is said that the washing machine eats socks. One day we found the proof before the machine could swallow it. The washing machine stopped working because it wouldn't drain the water and when my DH, Jim, took the washing machine apart, sure enough, the washing machine was caught trying to eat the sock. So, if your washing machine stops working, don't forget to check and see if it is choking on a sock.

I'll have to think about it to come up with the funniest ever, but just this morning I found a sock in the fridge.
I didn't bother to ask who did it - I'm sure it was the work of the infamous Mr. Nobody.

My toddler was missing socks. She would go to bed wearing them, wake up, come to find me and be missing one or both socks. I hardly ever found them in her sheets or blankets. It was beyond me where they were going. Well, one day I was doing an under the bed toy check. I poked my head under her toddler bed, careful not get my hair caught in the exposed spring's. I saw what appeared to be little white fingers poking out from the spring's. I was instantly creeped out, pulled back, hit my head and the springs grabbed my hair. It was while I was untangling my hair that I realized the fingers were really the missing socks. (Maybe it was hitting my head that helped.?) The socks had managed to work their way down and through the springs - helped I'm sure, by my daughters bouncing on the matress.

My friend and I were on an outing and she reached over and said she was going to "fix" my shoulder pad. I thought that was a little funny because the shirt I was wearing didn't have shoulder pads. She proceeded to pull out one of my husbands dress socks. The static cling had stuck it good!

My son is 2 years old, and a little of a clean freak... so I regularly find socks in his trucks, and sometimes worse, in the kitchen cupboard, with the plastic bowls.

*blush* hanging from my naked son's bum...

He decided he was missing a tail and remedied the situation.

It was the middle of the night. I shuffled into the bathroom, used the facility, stood up, and shockingly jumped back when I peered into the toilet, spying this fuzzy, black, creature. My husband's missing sock, having shared the dryer with my p.j.s, clung to the p.j.s for dear life until the opportunity arose to jump into the toilet. The myth that dryers eat socks is finally resolved. Now I know that socks have a mind of their own and jump where they wish, at will.

OH my goodness, how are you going to choose, Jerri!? These are all so funny!!

I have a sock story that is true and shocking. Really. And although one of the principles in the story thought it was funny, *I* most certainly did NOT!
;-D

Right after some recent emergency surgery this past December, my dear, DEAR friend came over and appropriated all of my dirty laundry to wash, my clean piles to fold, and my socks to match. I was helpless from the lazy-boy (having just arrived home from the hospital) to stop her, and so allowed her to be generously kind to me in my time of "need".

WELL! Talk about taking advantage. I found out, WEEKS later, that she folded our socks, and then took HER mismatched-socks pile, added them to MINE, and sent them home to me. As a JOKE! (Like I even noticed!) So my unmatched-socks pile doubled, the stinker, and she was just waiting for me to discover it.

*Sigh*
Some friends...
